Soaked bills won&#8217;t work in ticket machines, and handing them over at the register is awkward.<\/p>\n<p>When Felica landed on the iPhone ten years ago, I thought Japan would soon be a place where you could get by on digital payments alone. I used to carry keys and wallet separately, meaning two items in my pockets on every ride. Combining them has freed up back-pocket space. A GPS tracker fits inside, so I won&#8217;t lose the wallet either.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Water resistance<\/strong>: Dry banknotes are everything. Lately we&#8217;ve seen more wallets in cutting-edge materials like X-Pac and Dyneema, but prolonged use eventually wears them through and water seeps in. Bellroy pairs the thickness and tension of molded leather with an AquaGuard zipper, making it genuinely hard for water to reach the interior. Banknotes need to be folded in thirds every time, and the opening doesn&#8217;t gape wide enough to easily pick out the coin you want.
